Winterlicious TAG

Heart Butt

I don't know what it is about tags that are so addictive, but I really love answering and reading them. There are a lot holiday tags going around right now, but this one seemed especially fun. I think mostly because I really liked the name. Anyway, feel free to do this tag and post the answers in the comments section or make a blog post using these questions and leave me a link to your blog so I can check out your answers.

QUESTIONS!

1) Favorite Winter Nail Polish? Dive Bar by Essie is one of those colors that I could wear all year long, but I especially love it for winter. It gives an edgy look to your nails without painting them black. The color is really unique in that it's a dark blue/green shimmer with hints of purple. I've also really been loving Every Month Is Oktoberfest by OPI. It's a dark red-purple with shimmer and it's a color I'm definitely going to be wearing a lot this winter.

2) Favorite Winter lip product? My favorite winter lip product isn't actually a lip product at all. It's Egyptian Magic Cream. I love using it as a lip balm in the winter to keep my lips from drying out with the cold weather. It's literally the best thing ever invented. As for color, I really love the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet. It's the perfect red for the holiday season.

3) Most worn Winter clothing piece? My newest faux leather jacket by Express. I got it during Black Friday when it was like 50% off.

4) Most worn Winter accessory? I don't have a specific on this one, but I really love collecting/wearing faux fur scarves. Right now I have my sights set on this one. It will be mine! Oh, yes, it will be mine...

5) Favorite winter scent/candle? I love warm scents like vanilla and cinnamon in the winter time. Also, the smell of Christmas trees makes me happy.

6) Favorite Winter beverage? The Caramel BrulĂ©e Latte from Starbucks. It's like drinking happiness.

7) All time favorite Christmas/Holiday movie? A Christmas Story because it reminds me of someone I really care about.

8) Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?

9) Favorite Holiday food/treat? Seriously, any chocolate creme filled panettone will put me in a good mood. That stuff is addictive. Especially when eaten with coffee.

10) What is your favorite Christmas Decoration this year? I actually haven't put up a single decoration this year. I know, I know, it's crazy. I just really haven't been feeling up to it.

11) What's at the top of your Christmas list? Definitely, this black leather jacket from Victoria's Secret

12) What are your plans for the holidays this year? Spending time with my family. :)

Happy holidays! xoxo

Know Your Worth

34128909647386605_tjTf2EHr_c

As women we have a tendency to let men be the deciding factor of who we are and what we are worth. There is a quote by Lord Byron that says, "Man's love is of man's life a thing apart, 'tis woman's whole existence".  When we give someone else this kind of power, where they become our whole existence, then we start to feel as though something is wrong with us if they don't return our feelings. We become so irrational because our whole identities have become tied to our relationships. We need to stop putting our focus on who we are with (or want to be with) and start putting it on who we want to be. The best way to get over a broken heart is not to cry yourself to sleep or eat a gallon of ice cream in one sitting but, by doing those things that you love to do and focusing on what, apart from a guy, makes you happy. <3

Here is a short list of things you can do to help put your focus back on you:
Spend time pampering yourself - take a long bubble bath, use those face masks you probably own and never use, give yourself a hair treatment, shape your eyebrows (or get them done), and/or give yourself a manicure/pedicure.
Read a book with a positive message. I absolutely love reading and think it's a great way to get motivated for change and feel empowered.
Go shopping. I am totally guilty of using retail as therapy. As long as you spend within your means, you deserve to treat yourself to something pretty.
Take a class. Learning something new, that's of interest to you, is a great way of building self esteem and feeling more empowered. Whether it's learning another language, taking ballroom dance classes, or learning yoga, the possibilities are endless.
Clean and organize your space. There is something very therapeutic about cleaning out the junk from your life and getting it organized.
Exercise. Walk, run, dance, do pilates or yoga, whatever form you enjoy, do it. You'll feel better about yourself.
Keep a journal. Buy a really nice one that makes you smile whenever you look at it. It can be a place where you write down all your thoughts or just one thing that inspired you that day. Whatever style you choose, get creative with it. There's no wrong way to journal and it's for your eyes only.

And always remember, never let anyone make you feel like you are worthless. You need to believe in yourself and your worth and then others will see it too. And for those who don't, they don't deserve to be in your life anyway.

xoxo,
Jen

Keep Your Eyes On Your Own Mat

Prasarita Padottanasana D 2

This is a term used in yoga to remind yourself to stay focused on what you are doing and not compare yourself to others. Because we are all different and unique with our own body types and limitations. I've really been meditating on these words lately and trying to apply it to other areas of my life.

It's funny how often we hear a motivational quote or message of some sort and immediately think of someone else that could benefit from it's wisdom, instead of trying to find a way to apply it to our own lives. I am guilty of this myself. It's so much easier to point the finger at someone else's short comings than to acknowledge our own. We are after all, only human. I think the acceptance of this fact is crucial for anyone doing any serious self reflecting. Yes, we make mistakes and fall short, but the beauty of life is the fact that at any moment we are dissatisfied with our lives we have the power to change it.

Most of the time dissatisfaction with life actually comes from a dissatisfaction with self. I think the truly satisfied person is a master of self reflection. You cannot be satisfied with your life if you are constantly repeating those same mistakes that make you dissatisfied. It's kind of like that quote, "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results". You obviously need to try something different. And the only way to do that is to keep your eyes on your own mat. Stay focused on what you are doing and on those areas you wish to change and stop comparing yourself to others.

Hopefully this helps anyone who reads it to remember to not waste their energy comparing themselves to others. Life is just too short. And if you want to change anything/anyone change yourself. It's really the only thing we have control of anyway. I may not have all the answers to life, but I pretend to. :)

I can't believe it's been months since my last blog post! To help me get back in the swing of things I decided to answer a bunch of random questions not involving why I've been gone so long. I hear it's good for a woman to appear mysterious.... Actually, it's because I have no idea why I stopped blogging. It just kind of happened. In any case I hope you enjoy this post. And hopefully I have more to come soon.

10 Random Questions:

7.) Current outfit: Victoria's Secret Romper (P.J's).

8.) Last person you went to dinner with? My dad.
